Graduate Student Association

Your vote counts!  From September 21-27, 2014, you will have the opportunity to cast your vote to determine if the graduate student fee of $2.22 should remain mandatory.  To date, this fee has helped provide funding to over 30 students amounting to over $20,000 of support!  If interested in receiving support from this fee, please vote carefully and visit the Funding Support from the GSA link.  Voting will take place in the Graduate Student Association Blackboard Group.

The Buffalo State Graduate Student Association (GSA) was established with the consideration that there is a constant and imminent need to provide for the representation of graduate students and the promotion of graduate students' interests on this campus.

The GSA is open to all its constituents. One of the GSA's strengths is the enormous diversity of professional and life experiences, ethnic backgrounds, nationalities, intellectual skills and cultural interests among graduate students at Buffalo State. We welcome and encourage your involvement in the GSA.

Get Involved

The GSA meets once a month and encourages all matriculated graduate students to attend. Please contact the GSA at or via Facebook.

The GSA is currently seeking nominations for the 2014-2015 student senator positions as well as the executive board position of Treasurer.  If interested, please review the Constitution and submit your nomination for senator here or Treasurer, here.  All nominations must be received by September 17, 2014.  Please contact the Graduate Student Association with any questions.

Mission Statement

The mission of the GSA is to represent and support the interests of the college's current and future graduate student community by supporting scholarly activities and providing leadership, service, and social opportunities.

GSA exists to enrich the experience of the college's graduate students, all of whom are members. GSA accomplishes these objectives by flexibly responding to the changing collective needs of our primary constituents; graduate students.

  • advocate the position of the graduate student body to Buffalo State and external constituencies;
  • represent the broad interests of the graduate student body to Buffalo State's academic units through a network of departmental delegates;
  • furnish accessible, reliable, and valuable information, services, and programs to current and prospective graduate students;
  • provide a forum for interaction among an extraordinarily diverse graduate student population;
  • encourage and facilitate communication with and interaction among other graduate student organizations;
  • seek funding to support organizational and professional development activities;
  • promote a sense of community among undergraduate students, fellow graduate students and their families;
  • establish an influential network to aid in the professional development of students and alumni;
  • partner with corporations to increase awareness of Buffalo State graduates and promote GSA activities that are consistent with the GSA mission;
  • identification and recruitment of professional academic certifications and programs.
